Harry Reid Says the NFL Should Follow the NBA’s Lead, Rename the Redskins

When Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban called forcing Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling to sell his team a “slippery slope,” he was probably thinking of fellow NBA owners. However, the first person facing new pressure following the decision is NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. On Wednesday, Senator Harry Reid applauded NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for his “work to swiftly move to stamp out bigotry in its ranks,” and called on Goodell to do the same by forcing Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder to change his team’s name. “Since Snyder fails to show any leadership, the National Football League should take an assist from the NBA and pick up the slack,” Reid said. “It would be a slam dunk.” Like all lawmakers, Reid has a condition that forces him to use any corny sports reference he thinks of, so don’t groan.
